The Magic Tree
Each year our show begins with an explanation of how that huge tree wound up in our front yard. The following is the text that Forest wrote in Children' Story form. Enjoy!
The Magic Tree
by Forest DennisBoys and girls, moms and dads, people from all around, I want to tell you a story about a very special Christmas tree. You see, this tree was very tall and filled with hundreds of twinkling lights. It stood in the middle of a big Christmas tree lot and summoned people of the town to come and buy other trees to take home and decorate. This tree stood in the middle of the lot and listened to Christmas music all day long as children would dance around it with glee.
However, that is not the only thing special about this Christmas tree. At the end of the day, all the people would leave the tree lot and the big tree with its lights still blazing. This tree had a secret. All alone there on the lot, this tree seemed to come to life! It would dance and flash its lights in time with the Christmas music it had heard that very day.
In the days before Christmas, there was couple on Main Street in Elgin who needed a perfect tree to finish decorating their Candy Land for the holidays. This couple went to the lot and fell in love with the big lighted tree. They brought the tree home and set it in the middle of their yard. They plugged it in and it was beautiful. The tree could not have been happier.
Late one night, the couple was greatly surprised when they looked out their window and learned of the tree’s big secret.
